Rita Paupério (Espinho, 1981) is a Portuguese visual artist whose practice focuses on abstract painting. She holds a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto and has also studied photography and disciplines related to movement, such as classical ballet and choreography.
Her work develops from an intuitive and process-oriented approach, exploring the relationship between gesture, color, and image construction. Her non-figurative compositions are often organized in layers, where spontaneity, error, and chance are incorporated as structural elements. In this context, painting emerges as a space for visual investigation, giving form to internal landscapes and a reflection on experience and perception.
Since 2023, she has maintained a regular studio practice, having presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. She was recently awarded an Honorable Mention at the 8th Espinho Contemporary Art Biennale, consolidating a consistent career in the field of contemporary painting.
