Tiago Hesp (1981) is a Portuguese multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, mural art, illustration, set design, and music. With a degree in Set Design from the Lisbon School of Theater and Cinema, he began his career in graffiti in the late 1990s, a medium through which he gained visibility and developed his own distinctive style.

His work develops from an intuitive and deeply personal approach, where painting emerges as a process of balance and self-knowledge. Often starting from gesture and the mark, his compositions explore tensions between light and shadow, order and instability, in a continuous attempt to reconcile opposing forces.

With a strong abstract component, his work reflects a mindset marked by deconstruction and the search for a place of his own, both artistically and existentially. Between the raw energy of the line and the construction of dense, expressive surfaces, Tiago Hesp establishes a consistent practice situated between the streets and the contemporary exhibition spaces.

TIAGO HESP has held two solo exhibitions at Apaixonarte. The most recent, PEDRA E PAU, took place in 2023.
