Joana R. Sá (Mirandela, 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Faro. Graduated and post-graduated in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of the Algarve, she specialized in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Digital Media Art.
Her practice evolves from drawing as an expanded field, positioning itself as an open system in constant transformation. Through her own visual alphabet, composed of indecipherable codes, she explores themes such as memory and language, in a process marked by tensions between the organic and the mechanical, materialization and dematerialization.
Since 2013, she has been presenting her work in solo and group exhibitions, demonstrating consistent research in the field of contemporary drawing. Concurrently, she collaborates with the Zer0 Museum on educational activities and serves on the board of Associação 289.
Joana R. Sá showcased the solo exhibition ENTRE MUNDOS at Apaixonarte in 2023.
